Vise FAQ's

Sand casting allows us to use more resilient aluminum alloys that cannot be used in die casting. This increases strength and the overall amount of aluminum in the final product. We use Almag 535 alloy which is a high purity alloy of aluminum and magnesium possessing the highest and most stable combination of strength, shock resistance and ductility of any as cast non-heat treated aluminum alloy.

The Ski Man style vise is die cast and most likely uses A380 aluminum alloy. That type of alloy is required due to the die-cast method and produces a vise that is much more susceptible to breakage under repetitive stress. We are sure you have seen vise of this style broken as shown.
